Want to work together?

I love collaborating with other creative minds/voices/hands. If you have a specific project you’d like me to develop text, collage, dialogue, music, timeline, storylines, soundscapes, vision boards, lesson plans, or other creative materials for, i’m all ears!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with details about your idea and your vision for my involvement. Let’s join forces and make something new.

Below you’ll find info about some past collaborations with other artists, writers, families, designers, engineers, and musicians who inspire me. Don’t see anything listed here that resembles your project idea? That’s not a deal-breaker. Change is a precious challenge in my line of work. Try me!

EYES OF THE SKIN: soundscapes for the first-ever quilted video game!

Video by preguntas studio.

Eyes of the Skin is a sensory-inclusive video and textile art installation presented by Locust Studios in Miami, Florida to showcase the first-ever quilted video game, created by visual artist Jen Clay. Made entirely of animated quilts, the soothing sensory-inclusive environment features a hypnotic, layered soundscape created by Anna Elise Anderson and dialog created in collaboration with mental health consultant Tayina Deravile.

Eyes of the Skin is funded in part by a Knight New Work Grant awarded to the artist in 2022 by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The exhibition’s realization at Locust Projects is presented as part of Knight Digital Commissions.

Kindred spirits: CUSTOM FAMILY HISTORY BOOK

Kindred Spirits is a 68-page, fully-illustrated, nonfiction narrative family history book created in 2023. The custom hardcover book was commissioned by Kelly Mann and designed, independently-researched, and written by Anna Elise Anderson, featuring personal contributions from all five Nicholl children as well as parents and relatives. The final book includes a narrative timeline and family tree, personal interviews, handwritten letters, and over six decades of family photos in both collage and single format. Commissioned to honor the lifelong love story of Mike and Caroline Nicholl of Nashville, Tennessee on their 60th wedding anniversary and printed in a limited edition of twelve full-color copies.

nearing: video installation + live performance

Nearing is a 20-minute performance created by Miami artist Jen Clay with video and live soundscapes by Nashville artist Anna Elise Anderson. Influenced by early Sci-Fi movies like The Blob and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the interactive performance invites audiences to witness the origins of a series of seemingly friendly, non-human beings. Through a performance featuring claymation animation projected onto a dome, wearables that open to expose their insides, live textural soundscapes as well as human and non-human vocal recordings, the eerie and the alien seem to wish to become just…like…you. Imagine a sentient embodiment of depression and anxiousness: easy at first glance, then increasingly terrifying.

LISEY’S TEES: earth-focused animal art

In 2014, I was commissioned by online nature gift retailer Wildlife Wonders to create a series of cheeky shirts, hoodies, and tote bags featuring childlike wildlife sketches alongside a series of animal text puns. A portion of all proceeds from the sale of each item was donated to various wildlife habitat and environmental protection groups, including Defenders of Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy, and the World Wildlife Fund.

It’s all really real: short horror/art film score

Its All Really Real from Jen Clay on Vimeo.

Created by Miami visual artist Jen Clay with original vocal and omnichord score by Anna Elise Anderson, It’s All Really Real is a performance and video work exploring feelings of fear in the midst of familiarity. Featuring images and symbolism pulled from horror films and sci fi features, the seemingly safe spaces we think we know (neighborhoods, homes, living rooms, beds) become unsettlingly other in this short film.
